And if you do join another player, your story progress will still save. It doesn’t matter if you’re a much higher or lower level than the other player you’re playing with - the Stats Sync feature will synchronise the guest to the host’s level, maintaining a balanced experience. And if you want to be one of those people helping out a random player in need, head to Multiplayer from the pause menu and select Quick Match to jump into another player’s game. From here, you can invite players in your party and people on your friends list (or join their game), and even see recent players you’ve played with. To invite players into your game, you can hit the options button to open the pause menu, and head to Social. From here, you can select SOS under privacy to open up your multiplayer to public groups, allowing random players to join your game and help you in the fight. To quickly access multiplayer in Gotham Knights, simply tap left on the d-pad to open the social wheel. This should only take around 30 minutes to complete, so you don’t have to wait too long to jump into multiplayer. This is basically the tutorial section of the game, and once you’ve finished Case File 1.2 - The Langstrom Drive in 01: Batman’s Last Case, you’ll unlock the multiplayer and social features. Gotham Knights can be played almost entirely in co-op, although you won’t be able to access the social and multiplayer aspects of the game until you complete your first night on patrol in Gotham City. It’s fairly rare for a big-budget multiplayer game not to support crossplay these days, so hopefully it might be added in a future update. So if you’re on PlayStation, and want to play with a friend on Xbox, or vice versa, you’re currently out of luck. Give it a try and see what comes of it.Unfortunately, Gotham Knights doesn’t support crossplay between Xbox, PlayStation, and PC at the time of writing. Otherwise, you might just find you enjoy having another player around while stomping out crimes in the open world. If a particular puzzle has you stumped, you might find that two heads are better than one for solving the problem. You’ll often find that adding a second player can make all the difference. Well, if you’re having a particularly difficult time with a boss fight, consider turning on matchmaking and allowing someone to join your game. If you’re primarily a solo player, you might be wondering when you would get the most out of having someone else around. If you jump into matchmaking, be ready for anything. You could be thrown into all kinds of scenarios, such as an open-world mission, a story mission, or a boss fight giving someone particular trouble. The multiplayer tab will allow you to engage in matchmaking where you can jump into the game of another person looking for a crime-fighting partner. Social will allow you to do things like block people, see your friends, and invite people to your game. To open up the full suite of multiplayer options, you’ll want to bring up the pause menu where you’ll see Social and Multiplayer as tabs to select. On a controller, this would be done by holding left on the d-pad. You can make quick adjustments to your social settings by opening up the social wheel. You’ll be able to change Knights around the same time multiplayer unlocks. ![]() It’s also worth noting that during this time you will be locked into playing whoever you chose at the start of the game. This shouldn’t take more than an hour or two. The game won’t unlock its multiplayer options until you finish the first tutorial mission and your first night on patrol in Gotham. While you may be eager to jump into the multiplayer options as soon as possible, you’ll need to wait just a little bit.
